I need help making a decision

with 7 comments

I’m seriously thinking about moving my office closer to my house. Don’t worry I’m not moving it to rockland. I wouldn’t make my worst enemy drive over the tappan zee bridge for anything!

I am considering the village of Irvington. It is directly across the river from Piermont and would cut my commute to 10 minutes. Its 40 now, Yikes.

So what do you think?

Just so you dont think I hung up my camera for the winter here is an amazing photo (i think) of the tappan zee bridge from the pier in Piermont. oh and a map of my new commute.

Hey all.

Ronnie and I had such a great weekend. We were fortunate enough to spend three days in a row with such wonderful people at such incredible events.

Friday we started in long Island at the brides mothers stunning home, I wish I could post more from this location! Silvana and Christian were really a lot of fun to work with. We lost the sun rather quick due to some traffic getting from Long Island to the church in Bronxville (that delayed us around 45 minutes.) Once we got to Glenn Island we were able to get off a few available light shots then we switched to the video light to complete the photo part of the day. Check it out its the shot at the end with that very cool blue sky and warm skin tones. Dave was the videographer and he had a whole bunch of new toys that are going to make his videos even more incredible. I don’t want to steal his thunder so I will stop at that, but trust me its going to be awesome.

Saturday we worked with Dave again and stayed pretty local in Tarrytown for the house and the reception. The photos were down on the Hudson River in Irvington. I was thrilled to shoot at a location out of the norm, it always inspires me. Karen the brides mother is an amazing opera singer and performed a beautiful version of One Hand, One Heart from West Side Story, it was amazing!!

Sunday was my upstate version of the weekend. Well not really upstate but Mahopac : )
we shot the photos at the very cool China Pier in Peekskill. Its this old wooden fishing pier down on the Hudson and its great for photos. we needed the sun to set a bit before we could shoot but once it did we got some great stuff! The reception was at the Villa Barone Hilltop Manor, they have a roof deck available for photos that provides views of the hudson valley. Its truly breathtaking at this time of year as the leaves are changing. If your getting married there in the next few weeks make sure you get some photos up there!

So after that weekend I’m taking today off after all it is columbus day, and I am Italian : )

I’ll talk to you all tomorrow!

something besides weddings

with one comment

Yep, I do other stuff! This was a project that I do every year for the Yonkers Chamber of Commerce. They do a readers poll where the residents of yonkers can vote for there favorite thing. Restaurant, nail salon, nursery you get it. We photographed 70 locations in two half days. Its not easy to be creative on a moments notice. I like to think the weddings have conditioned me!! These were some of my favorites.

Dean Marrazo – The Old Stone Mill

Burkes Bar and Restaurant

Dunwoodie Pizza

Joes Dog House – on Saw Mill River Road

Giulios Restaurant

Meet the crew. Ronnies turn.

So after 3 months of waiting, the season is finally here, and this year we are celebrating the most growth ever!  I thank all my clients for believing in me and my ability to photograph. This year we will shoot 65 of the coolest, down to earth brides and grooms in the tri state area (and the Bahamas!!)

So, I would be a terrible person if I tried to take all the credit for my success. Without Ronnie Scavetta, I wouldn’t have been able to reach this level of success.  Seriously, Ronnie is my right hand man. Although he started with my company as a lighting assistant, he has achieved my respect as an accomplished photographer.

So today I thank Ronnie for everything he brings to the table. Ronnie you’re a huge asset to this company and I could not have done it without you.

By the way he also has some hidden talents. He is an awesome mechanic, he can install any electronic device in any car (I’ve tested him) and he even helped me build my house! But the most important thing he does is spell and grammar check my blog, so get on it Ronnie this post is probably filled with errors!!!

This is a photo of Me, Joe Panella (his post is coming soon) and Ronnie. Ronnie reminded me that this was taken right before Joe stepped on a nail and went to Nyack Hospital for 6 hours. Sorry Joe.
